Through the production of this book. "There's Something You Should Know About Me", I saw another glimpse into the life of teenagers. It's a familiar and but often foreign place, having outgrown issues and encountering so many new things into my 20s and 30s.
This book is based on an experimental journal writing class in the school. After watching a movie, the teacher gives the class a writing prompt based on concepts shared in the film. It is refreshing and admirable to once again read personal stories packed with raw honesty and authentic wonder.
On the cover, I used photos of the students and some of their illustrations. I created a patchwork of images presenting parts of themselves that highlight their personality, and would want the reader to be curious about them. What you’ll find in these pages are refreshing perspectives that will endear you to these young adults. Their thoughts are nuanced, complex and candid. Designing this, I saw to it that their presence was felt throughout the book. Their handwriting and art mark these pages.
