I took my design direction from Charles’ exhibit "Reality is a Hologram", with an invitation previously made by a friend. The idea I picked out from the strikethrough title was the attempted erasure of an utterance. I found it to mean a change of heart or denial.
For the cover, I decided to put just one image — a broken universe left lying on the floor. The exhibit presents the many things in his life that were falling apart and slowly vanishing. I feel he is grasping at whatever’s left and trying to make sense of the situation. Insecurity and fears are projected out into his work. Eventually, he will see things as they are — or as an artist and photographer, look at the situation from another perspective.
I also wrote his exhibit notes. You may view the rest of his show at artinformal.com
